What is Enlace?
Enlace is a
non-for-profit civil society organization founded in
Mexico City in 1982, which has been working in the
education and social field since then. Legally we are a
civil society association that is an independent entity
baring no relation to any political governmental party
or religious institution.
What kind of people make up
Enlace?
We are a
group of professional men and women with a vocation and
dedication of working with and for the people. We've
oriented our lives to supporting and strengthening
community organization projects. Our primary objectives
are geared towards social development and encouraging
the necessary participation of the people who live and
are from the communities in the regions where this work
takes place.
What is our mission and what do we hope
to accomplish?
We hope to
promote and contribute in building social beings in
urban and rural communities that will participate and
advocate local development with a macro perspective.
This being the take-off point for influencing social
public policy action and advocacy that will contribute
in creating a more humane, equal, democratic society and
sustainable world.
How is this work
done?
This is all
done by the implementation of different work teams in
strategic regions, whom support and lend their services
to different communities. There's also a programming,
monitoring and evaluation process for the various social
and community development projects in the following
areas: Organizational development Economic and
ecological development Community education and
communication
The central
office is responsible for regional exchange and
follow-up, financial strategies, institutional and
administration strengthening.

Some achievements:
En Xochimilco
· 58 families
participating in citizen-action advocacy, designing work
plans and community development projects. · 44
different colectives formed: 36 are working with familly
gardening and horticulture projects; 5 have organized
savings and loan groups and 3 groups have organized a
system of colective shopping
En Oaxaca
· Creating
opportunities for 14 agricultural groups, members of the
Rural Production Society's Union. Aiding and advising
the Triple SSS (Social Security Society) "Aspiring
towards the Future" in Santa Cruz Itundujia for
sustainable forest adaptability. · 28 high school
students from San Cristóbal Amoltepec trained in organic
horticulture production and fructiferous tree planting.
There also exists a constant participation in the
education plan.
En Puebla
· 10 savings
and credit groups with 159 members. · Promoting
nutritious diet and organic agriculture: 5 family
gardens, 10 potable water systems, 5 peach tree gardens
in continuous process of becoming an organic production.
· The construction of 3 community centers, 3
early-childhood centers where 160 boys and girls are
presently participating with the attention of 2
community instructors. · The elaboration of a
sustainable management plan of the ecological forest
reserve in the community, La Preciosita, with the
participation of 199 active community
members.
En Chiapas
· The Chiapas
team has accompanied the organization of indigenous
Maya.-tseltal women from 33 communities in the
region. · Technical-organizational training for women
participating in 9 artisan and 17 horticulture
gardens. · 970 indigenous tseltal families from 35
communities participating in agro-ecological
activities. · 1,200 indigenous tsetal boys and girls
from 26 communities in the Municipality of Ocosingo,
northern-Chiapas; Chilón, and 55 community educators
participating in the collective of "Colectivo Lumaltik
Nopteswanej (Pueblo Educador)", The community that
educates. · The construction of 20 schools built in a
hexagon shape with the inclusion of vegetable and fruit
gardens. · Diverse training for 85 traditional
community health workers. · The construction of 2
health care centers and 5 traditional medicinal herb
gardens and laboratories.
